Is it okay to clean up a source’s quote for poor grammar or should you only run quotes verbatim (word for word what they said)? Explain and support your answer.
I would only run quotes verbatim, not only because if you misquote someone, they might be annoyed with your article, but if you change a quote, then its technically no longer a quote.
If i were to come across this situation, i think the best solution to the problem would be to just paraphrase it. If the person being quoted states something too awkward sounding, im pretty sure the readers would prefer hearing it from someone that can say it better.
